Lors de ma découverte du bâtiment TMM sur le site d’ECL, j’ai été attirée par l’espace du porche et la qualité de ses voiles rayonnantes, particulièrement intéressant comme sas, une transition entre l’extérieur et l’intérieur jouxtant la pelouse. J’ai naturellement eu envie de créer un dialogue avec l’architecture, en jouant avec ses lignes, ses matériaux et ses formes.
C’est la diversité des domaines scientifiques qu’embrasse la tribologie qui a retenu mon attention: de l’archéologie, à l’astrophysique en passant par des recherches sur la topographie de la surface de la peau. C’est ce grand écart qui a retenu mon attention, ainsi que le changement d’échelle et le concept très spécifique de 3ème corps.
J’ai souhaité dans ma proposition que l’on ressente par les matériaux ces échelles de temps et ce concept à l’échelle d’une sculpture.
L’œuvre est réalisée en deux parties qui se répondent, le premier corps est un corps minéral sorti de terre, chargé de l’histoire, de la géologie, du passé, ascendant comme une montagne, un relief, un silex, un monolithe.
Il répond au second corps qui lui, est composé de trois strates, sorties du plafond et comme tombées du ciel. Ces lames suintant du plafond, telles des stalactites, suggèrent le céleste, le descendant pour évoquer l’avenir, l’astrophysique, l’univers. Ces deux corps par déplacement physique, par frottement visuel, génèrent un troisième corps.
Ces corps évoquent aussi un paysage de flysch, une anamorphose, un jeu cinétique, une topographie, un spectre lumineux, une onde sonore, un graphique à 3 corps, ce troisième corps évoque aussi des images mentales. L’installation est mouvante et apparaît différemment selon son propre déplacement, sa taille, sa vitesse, des facteurs extérieurs comme le climat, et fait vibrer et varier ses couleurs.
L’intention est de créer, par les qualités physiques de l’œuvre, le désir d’observer car la tribologie est une science qui est fondée avant tout sur l’observation.
When I discovered the TMM building on the ECL site, I was attracted by the space of the porch and the quality of its radiating sails, particularly interesting as an airlock, a transition between the outside and the inside adjoining the lawn. Naturally, I wanted to create a dialogue with the architecture, playing with its lines, materials and shapes. It was the diversity of the scientific fields encompassed by tribology that caught my attention: from archaeology to astrophysics and research into the topography of the skin’s surface. It was this wide range that caught my attention, as well as the change of scale and the very specific concept of the 3rd body. In my proposal, I wanted the materials to give an impression of these scales of time and this concept on the scale of a sculpture. The first body is a mineral body emerging from the earth, steeped in history, geology and the past, rising like a mountain, a relief, a flint, a monolith.It responds to the second body, which is made up of three layers, emerging from the ceiling as if from the sky. These blades ooze from the ceiling like stalactites, suggesting the celestial, the descending, evoking the future, astrophysics, the universe.These two bodies, by physical displacement and visual friction, generate a third body. These bodies also evoke a flysch landscape, an anamorphosis, a kinetic game, a topography, a light spectrum, a sound wave, a three-body graph. topography, a spectrum of light, a sound wave, a 3-body graph, this third body also evokes mental images. The installation is in motion, appearing differently according to its own movement, its size and speed, and external factors such as the climate, and making its colours vibrate and vary. The intention is to create, through the physical qualities of the work, a desire to observe, because tribology is a science based above all on observation.
